It's tough to praise Wild Child without sounding redundant, but here goes nothing. One of Austin's most celebrated acts in the last decade, this dynamic, fun, and talented seven-piece plays an infectious brand of quirky indie pop. Their 2016 album Fools is a slice of musical bliss, while their latest single Break Bones is sparse, haunting, and highlights Kelsey Wilson's touching, vulnerable vocals. If you've never seen Wild Child live, do yourself a favor and make it happen, especially in this intimate venue. Also playing is indie troubadour and ex-front man for Delta Spirit, Matthew Logan Vasquez.

Call me a sucker for old school Austin, but few things make me smile like featuring a rever ed old timer in our local music scene. Blues master Matthew Robinson has been strumming the 12-bar strut since 1964 with no signs of slowing down. With his backing band The Jelly Kings by his side, Robinson delivers foot-stomping, heart-pounding blues straight from the soul. With a late start time, winding down your night with his classic sound would be a choice way to close your Friday night.

If I was out and about this weekend, instead of caring for an active toddler, this is the show I'd be attending. I have a secret/not-so-secret love for dreamy electropop, and Signy scratches that itch in every conceivable way. With beautiful vocals s pun around thundering rhythms and melodic synth, Signy's sound is theatrical, mesmerizing, and oddly danceable. Check out the video to Waiting For You if you need a reason to fall in love. Also playing is producer/performer Fuss Ricket, funk-pop trio Beat Bodega, and electro pop-punk act Obsolete Machines.
